RIPXX® EXPANDS FUNCTIONALITY WITH NEW SOFTWARE, RESORT MAPS

Mac versions of Ripxx software released.
March 1, 2010

SPRING HILL, Tenn., March 00, 2010 – With Olympic athletes in five sports having used the Ripxx Personal Measurement Device to measure and improve their performance, the company has announced software upgrades that will expand the functionality of the device and a Mac version of the software to expand the compatibility of the device. In addition to Mac-compatability, the company announced today that a new version of the Ripxx Replay software is available and it has launched a new software program called Ripxx Analysis as well as a firmware update. The list of mapped resorts in the Ripxx Replay software has expanded to 52, which includes resorts in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Montana, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming and British Columbia. You can see a full list of mapped resorts below. All updates may be downloaded for free from support.ripxx.com. “We have had a lot of requests for Macintosh support and so we’ve been working very hard to make that happen,” said Dr. Kurt Nichol, president of Ripxx, Inc. “We also added a generic replay function to the software so Ripxx owners can watch a 3D replay of their performances without having to be at one of the mapped resorts included in the original software.” Ripxx provides a way for athletes to review and compare their performances by collecting data from a suite of sensors including a GPS tracking chip, three gyroscopes and three accelerometers, making it a sort of “black box” for athletes. The software also includes highly detailed maps of many ski resorts, allowing skiers and snowboarders to watch 3D simulations of their runs from nearly any angle. The new Ripxx Analysis provides some useful tools for interpreting the Ripxx data, including new ways of displaying and comparing performances. Nichol said the new software is a result of feedback from athletes who have field-tested the device. “These recent upgrades are the result of listening to our customers in order to provide the best possible experience for Ripxx users,” said Nichol. “We originally designed the Ripxx with skiers and snowboarders in mind, but athletes from many disciplines have approached us about using the device in a variety of clever ways. We believe it has applications for BMX, motocross, skateboarding, wakeboarding, auto racing and just about sport that gets people moving.” The device is currently being used by the US Canoe/Kayak team as they train for qualifying events leading to the 2012 Summer Games in London and was part of the training for the US Bobsled, Skeleton and Luge teams leading up to the Winter Olympics. Professional skiers and snowboarders working on the latest film by Teton Gravity Research will be wearing the Ripxx to collect data on their acrobatics. The US Ski team is evaluating the device for inclusion in their training events. The Ripxx Personal Measurement Device is available for purchase for $329 at www.ripxx.com.
